The holy monk is the one who is with the world in his desert, and in the desert when he is in the world”.... Hence, as a monk, you are called to follow and serve him and seek God's face exactly there where he is to be found: which is at the heart of the world, where you must continue fighting the same battle that he fought. When you become monk or nun, Jesus does not ask you first to withdraw from the world, but to keep yourself from evil. As the Father sent Jesus into the world, so you also are sent into the world. This is the will and Testament of the Son of God made man. (JCRL Ch 12:136)
